This imposing house is an example of Italianate architecture which is rare in Fredericton, but was extremely popular throughout North America between 1840 and 1880. The impressive two–storey tall square columns frame a front façade which features fine rope carvings surmounting the transomed door and window trim. The impressive domicile is capped by a curved mansard roof featuring a unique decorated mansard dormer with a pair of arched windows, a hallmark of the Italianate style.
