Call for Nominations

Fredericton Heritage Trust wants you to help us celebrate our local heritage.

The Trust is seeking nominations for its annual Heritage Award Program, which recognizes individuals and organizations for their contribution to heritage preservation.

"The exceptional heritage character of the Fredericton area is due to the ongoing - and often unrecognized - efforts of many citizens," says Ian Robertson, chair of the Trust’s award committee. "We’re asking the community to help us by identifying candidates for the various award categories. These candidates will be reviewed and award winners determined by a committee of the Trust and be publicly recognized during New Brunswick’s Heritage Week celebrations in February 2008."

Those eligible for nomination include owners or tenants who have, in the last 5 years, renovated a heritage building (typically a pre-1945 residential, commercial or institutional property in the Fredericton area) in a manner sympathetic to the original character of the building or streetscape. As well, individuals or groups who have demonstrated an exemplary contribution to local heritage issues may be nominated.

Nominations can be submitted online or the forms can be downloaded in Microsoft Word or PDF format. Completed forms must be received by Fredericton Heritage Trust by 5:00pm January 31, 2008 and may be submitted by email to awards@heritagefredericton.org by post to Box 546, Fredericton NB E3B 5A6 or by fax to 457-1829.

Award recipients will receive a framed Fredericton Heritage Trust pewter logo which will be presented at a public Heritage Week celebration February 16, 2008.
