September 7, Sunday 1 - 4pm

Lt. Col. Beverley Robinson's House
Jason Jeandron and Karen Perley will lead a walk back in time along the floodplain of the St. John River, identifying former shorelines; discuss the changing landscape and the traditional use of the area by New Brunswick's First Nations. We will end up at the structural remains of the homestead of Lt. Col. Beverley Robinson. Lieutenant-Colonel Beverley Robinson (1754-1816), a Loyalist in the Loyal American Regiment, moved to the mouth of the Nashwaaksis River after being granted 800 acres of land for his efforts in the American Revolution. While the majority of the remains of his homestead have since been destroyed, portions of his 18th century foundations remain. Artifacts recovered from the initial archaeological excavations of the Robinson house and the Native occupations dating to approximately 4,000 years ago will be on display. We will meet at the south-east end of Burpee St. on the north side at 1 pm sharp. Wear suitable clothing for the weather and for uneven but level ground. Rain date is the following Sunday.
